Learn SolidWorks Module 3 is a further development of the skills and techniques learned in Module 2. It is Intermediate in standard. Again there are 8 new artefacts to be modelled with full explanations in PDF format. The first exercise involves modelling a Chain with curvature. This uses a curve driven pattern and emphasises the significance of merging bodies. The Candle-stick involves some surface geometry, thin extrusions and sweeps. The Coffee cup is in two parts and involves an assembly as well as an extrude thin, the use of a sketch picture, split lines and a thin revolve as well as extruded text along a curve. The Picture hook involves linear patterning of extrude cuts and some interesting lofting. The Gyroscope involves some interesting sweeps, thin extrusions and revolves. The Push switch takes you through the modelling of a spring, patterning of features and the application of translucent finishes. The Perfume bottle further emphasises the use of the Loft feature and the use of guide curves as well as shelling. The Propeller further develops your lofting skills and introduces the use of 3D sketching to create guide curves for the lofts. The use of section planes is used throughout the modelling process as well as sketch relations. Precision in the detailing is a fundamental feature of all these exercises.
