Product Description

Learn SolidWorks Module 1 is an introduction to the fundamental features of SolidWorks. It involves the drawing and rendering of 8 different artefacts with full explanations of the process in PDF format. The 8 tutorials are designed so that a beginner to SolidWorks would work through them from tutorial 1 to 8 (see Module Sequence PDF). The knowledge gained from one tutorial to the next is incremental. I have also included an Introductory tutorial on the SolidWorks interface and a separate tutorial on how to get the best from PhotoView 360 when making your drawings photo-realistic. The artefacts in the tutorials are everyday objects drawn to actual sizes. Each tutorial will take the learner through new skills/techniques and reinforce previously learned ones. The tutorials take you through the process of applying materials and appearances for each of the artefacts. Each module builds on the knowledge gained from the previous ones. Modules 2 and 3 deal are pitched at an Intermediate level. Module 4 will be out soon and it will deal with more Advanced skills. Modules 5 through to 8 are also in the ‘pipeline’ and these will deal with yet again more advanced material so please keep an eye on the site. The first three modules taken together make up 296 pages of tutorials. All tutorials explain the process of creating models of real products. There are no abstract exercises in the modules. Anyone already familiar with SolidWorks can ‘jump in’ at their level in order to improve their knowledge and skills in SolidWorks modelling.

My class was very impressed with the module. The content is structured like a textbook, with tutorials that build on each other. The detailed instructions and well presented colour images aptly illustrate the concepts being addressed. The text manages to explain difficult commands in clear language and allows students to work through the material at their own pace.

An excellent resource. Each task well presented and easy to follow. Something new in each tutorial.
